About Gaurav Joshi

I'm a Senior Software Engineer. I build things for the web, and work on side projects when I get the time. I graduated in 2021 and learned most of what I know on the job, by building things and fixing what broke. That's made me pragmatic: something simple that works beats something clever that doesn't.

Most weekends I'm out on one of my Enfields, a Himalayan 450 or a Classic, somewhere in the hills and usually out of network.

The longer trips have taken me from Bangalore to Shillong, over 6,000 km in 15 days, and from Bangalore to Kashmir, which kept me on the road for five months.

I care about the environment and clean surroundings, and have worked with the Environmentalist Foundation of India as a city co-ordinator for clean-up drives.

Along with thousands of other volunteers, we helped the Pune Municipal Corporation clear more than 5 tonnes of waste from the city's rivers and lakes.

I'm lucky that what I do every day is what I'd happily do anyway: building or fixing things, with code or with my hands.

I write about all of it on the blog, and my side projects are on the home page.
